Frequently Asked Questions
How Does Pretty Simple Learning Help Me?
We provide you an environment that uses template-driven setup and configuration, while simultaneously giving you robust, flexible content tools to design learning experiences that meet your needs, not a programmers idea of "cookie cutter" templates that eliminate creativity and flexibility.
Can my instructors create and manage their own courses, or does everything go through me as the admin?
Both. You control how much autonomy your instructors have. They can build courses independently using the block-based editor, create personal question banks, and use lesson templates — but on Pro and Business plans, you can require courses to go through a review and approval workflow before they go live. You also get audit logging so you can see exactly who did what and when.
We run cohort-based programs where content unlocks on a schedule. Can PSL handle that?
Yes. PSL supports multiple content access modes that you can combine: sequential access (students must complete lessons in order), date-based unlocking (content becomes available on a specific date), and time-interval unlocking (content unlocks a set number of days after enrollment). You can mix these within a single course to create pacing strategies that work for both scheduled cohorts and self-paced learners.
How does PSL handle student assessments beyond basic quizzes?
PSL supports six question types — multiple choice, multi-select, true/false, short answer, essay, and Likert scale — with configurable passing scores, attempt limits, time limits, and question shuffling. But the real differentiator is Digital Exchange: an iterative feedback loop where students submit work, you respond with feedback, they revise and resubmit. It's built directly into lessons, so it works naturally for any scenario where a single score doesn't capture what a student has learned.
We process payments for our courses through Stripe. Does PSL take a cut of our revenue?
No. You connect your own Stripe or PayPal account, set your own prices, and revenue flows directly to you. PSL doesn't sit in the middle of the transaction, doesn't take a commission, and doesn't charge a per-transaction fee. Your course sales are your business — we just provide the infrastructure to make them happen.
We deliver compliance training and need to demonstrate accountability. Does PSL support that?
Yes, and it's not a premium add-on. On Pro and Business plans you get comprehensive audit logging that tracks every significant action — who did it, what role they held, what changed, and when. Course review and approval workflows ensure content is vetted before students see it. Content moderation with a formal appeals process gives you a documented, defensible approach to community management. Policy document versioning with effective dates and change tracking rounds it out.
